The 2013 Global Spa & Wellness Summit (GSWS) will be held in New Delhi, India, October 5-7. Previously planned to take place in Jaipur, India, the summit location has been changed in order to accommodate the hectic schedules of several of the summit’s high profile speakers.
The new venue for the event will be the award-winning Oberoi Gurgaon, located a 15-minute drive from Delhi National Airport and voted World’s Leading Luxury Hotel in the 2012 World Travel Awards.
The theme for this year’s summit is A Defining Moment and one of the key issues addressed will be the global industry growth of the concept of wellness and wellbeing. The Indian authorities focus on wellness and wellness tourism is also one of the reasons the country was selected as the location for the 2013 summit.
Susie Ellis, chairman and chief executive of the GSWS explained that: “The Indian government has taken a leadership role by identifying wellness and wellness tourism as important contributors to a nation’s economy. As the birthplace of yoga, mediation, and Ayurveda, India is an ideal location to explore the historic roots of spa and wellness, as well as examine new global markets and revenue opportunities.”
