The superbug has also infected 24 people at Fujita Health University Hospital in Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, since February this year. The 2 hospitals say the first patients thought to be infected had not travelled abroad. Juntendo University associate professor Satoshi Hori says the bacterium may have already been spreading in Japan.
