The ultimate outcome of this sector is better health of the citizens , which is a key factor in the quality of life , economic and general development of the society, was said at the international conference on medical tourism “Balkan Health Forum”, which brought together more than 200 representatives of medical institutions of the Balkans and around the world.

Serbia could easily be positioned as required country in the field of health tourism in Europe and build a national brand at this level. It has a great potential for the development of health tourism, especially in the area of dental services, rehabilitation, as well as in the field of cosmetic surgery, which are among the most sought medical services in the world. In Serbia, there are numerous spas and 350 hot springs with mineral water, which can help patients recover after treatment. Serbia has a very professional staff, institutions that can provide superior healthcare services at very affordable prices for foreign visitors. When we talk about the Balkan countries, the standard of living is similar to the rates of health services, which do not differ greatly and are financially affordable to all who live in the region. The travel from one country to another is not difficult for the patient, which is very important for all those who urgently need help.

The conference, which was organized by “Balkan Medical Travel” for the first time in Serbia, opened Minet Music, Managing Director of the company, with words: “Medical Tourism has the most potential in our region. Countries in the region have great potential for development and cooperation in this area, which would contribute to more efficient, and higher quality health care and economic development. These potentials are unfortunately not being fully utilized, and we want this conference to highlight the need for investment in health tourism and initiate cooperation between the countries in this sector. I strongly believe in a better future and development of the region, and this area is the door for the better future.”

A lot of attention caused crucial speaker Dr. Akkan Suver, president of the Marmara Foundation and organizer of the Eurasian Economic Summit: “The market for health tourism is one of the few that has continued to grow despite the global economic crisis. Investment in this sector is very cost effective and should be a core investment strategy of each country. Slovenia and Macedonia are already leading by investing in health tourism and largely already using their potential, a Balkan country to which everyone can look up is Turkey, which is among the most developed in Europe. In addition to investing in the development of the centers of medical tourism, the role of the state is reflected in the adaptation of legislation and the creation of a favorable climate for growth and investment”.

During the conference, participants will discuss the need and possibility of linking health and government institutions, medical and tourism professionals in the region , and discuss positive experiences from the United Kingdom, Ukraine , European Union countries and the Middle East. Part of the conference and meetings will be for the establishment of an international collaboration of health care institutions .
