The government must ensure it attracts top quality doctors to tap into medical tourism, a tourism stake-holder has said.
Speaking on the phone yesterday, Mombasa and Coast Tourist Association chair Mohamed Hersi said Kenya’s bid to develop medical tourism must be accompanied by the right action from the government.
“Medical tourism will never pick up with the current high cost of hospitals and doctors fees,” said Hersi. He said Kenya should take advantage of the opportunities it has to become a regional medical tourism hub. Hersi said this will allow many Kenyans to access reasonably priced and even better medical care besides saving foreign exchange.
