While the Soviet old-fashioned dentist offices passed into oblivion, and convenient and actually painless dental treatment technique appeared, Ukrainian dentists do not “scare” patients with irritable sound of a drill any more, but rather attract them by the quality of their services. More and more patients from Europe and USA seek for dental help in Ukraine, as the treatment process here appears to be much cheaper and quicker.
Medical tourism (that is how the practice of medical care outside the country of residence of the patient is called) are rapidly developing in Ukraine. In particular, the leading medical tourist destination is dental treatment.
Program of dental tourism in Ukraine includes primarily guaranteed safety, quality and privacy of services, assistance in visa appliance and a full range of tourist services, as hotel reservation or unforgettable excursions arrangement around the cities where the treatment is hold.
Mostly, tourists come to Ukraine for treatment from post-Soviet countries, but according to statistics the quantity of patients from Canada, USA, Germany, UK, as well as representatives of the diaspora, grows every year. Experts say, you shall pay 4-7 times less for dental services here than in Europe or USA.
For example, a dental implants in Irish dental clinic costs about 2.5 thousand euros, while in Kiev it will cost ten times cheaper – starting from 500 UAH. And strangely enough, qualification of Ukrainian doctors strongly competes with European doctors (According to the Center for Health Law).
Interesting that:
• Significant loss of teeth increases the risk of poor brain functioning up to 3.57 times.
• Doctors say, at least 95% of the world’s population is vulnerable to a variety of dental diseases.
• Doctors from Dental University of Ukraine have found that satisfactory hygiene is observed only in 10-30% of men and 20-50% of women.
• Russian king, Peter I, was the first dentist in Russia and Ukraine. He could pull up sore teeth with the tip of a teaspoon or swords. St. Petersburg Museum of Ethnography maintain 73 teeth pulled out by the king himself.
• First dental schools in Ukraine were opened only in the late 19 th century: Odessa (1892), Kiev (1897), Kharkov (1897).
