They say gynecologists have an interesting view of life. I am proud to say that I have spent the last year sharpening my focus and relooking at my life and my learning as a fellow of the obstetrics and gynecological world. Back to school was my mantra and in all humility while I am always in awe of the space India holds in this field of medicine, I have learned so much in the past year. It is my privilege to have been the President of the Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynecological Society for the first-ever Indo-Israeli academic collaboration. The Story of this year began almost 5 years ago and started with me searching for the promised land that will bring us closer to academics, research & newer technologies. We had hurdles, problems, obstacles but together with the most dynamic managing council in the history of MOGS, we did go thru the year with flying colors. These were difficult times with the world at war, terrorism threatening our planet, our country, our beloved city and our way of life. We cannot even hold our cricket matches in our own country. A severe economic recession grips the world and threatens our medical tourism and outsourcing industries. However there was hope as a young new president took charge of worlds most powerful nation and spoke of change. And the youngest thus far president took charge of the Mumbai Obstetric and Gynecological society and promised that the year would be different. CATO is inviting and placing volunteers-teachers from different parts of the world in Ghanaian schools, both in the countryside and urban areas; and they are enjoying it! All you need is at least a High School education. Volunteers can teach in in the following schools, Pre-schools, Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary schools. Volunteers can be placed with other volunteers if there are two or more vacant volunteer positions in a particular school. Volunteers can teach any one or more of these: English, Math, Social Studies, Life Skills, Religious and Moral Studies, Technical Skills, Basic Computer Skills, Fine Art, Environmental studies, Agricultural Science, General Science and many more. Volunteer will have plenty of time to travel and explore the rich African culture during and/or after work. Ghana also boast of the luxurious and beautiful beach Resorts, National Parks, Slave Forts and Castles, game reserves and many eco-tourism and historical sites. We place volunteers in schools in Accra, the capital city and in other towns and villages within a 200 miles radius from the capital Accra. Volunteers can choose the town or village in which they wish to service. Volunteers have the option to choose between big towns and small towns or villages. Bigger Towns usually have pipe-borne water. Bottled or bagged mineral water can also be bought easily in stores. Many medical facilities are available in bigger towns.
