Intl. conference on health tourism opens in Mashhad

Mashhad , Iran:

The third health tourism conference of Muslim countries opened in Razavi Hospital in Mashhad, the northeastern Iranian Razavi Khorasan Province, on Tuesday.

Delegations consisting of physicians and health specialists from 25 Muslim countries, representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Islamic Development Bank, and a number of other international organizations are attending the two-day conference.
The OIC is an international organization consisting of 57 Muslim member states.
The objective of the conference is to open up new horizons and explore effective strategies in order to utilize Muslim countries’ potential in the area of health tourism.
During the opening ceremony, Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization Director Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh, Health Minister Marzieh Vahid-Dastjerdi, and Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Mines Chairman Mohammad Nahavandian were scheduled to address the conference.
The first and second conferences of Muslim countries on health tourism were held in Razavi Hospital in 2010 and 2011 to help improve health tourism among OIC member states.
