Hungary’s economy, generating 227million Euros in revenue each year from Dental Tourism, Viktor Orban said

Dental tourism is crucial for Hungary’s economy, generating 227million Euros in revenue each year Viktor Orban said, “Hungary is able to tap into its advantage in dental tourism and show Europe how it can get back on its feet”. Health tourism, especially spa and dental tourism, also receive special attention with the government planning support worth 117 million Euros. The state will finance the sector’s development including market expansion, cost optimalisation, technical upgrade and incentives to keep dentists in Hungary and prevent their migration. The programme will aim at increasing dental services to foreigners two-fold in three years and three-fold in five years.

The government claims that Hungary’s share of dental tourism in Europe is around 40 %, but with many EU rivals who have no accurate figures on dental tourism, that figure seems too high. Hungary needs promotion to keep its market lead ahead of fierce Polish, Turkish, Bulgarian and Czech competition.

To raise standards and attract more health tourists Serbia is drafting a new spa law. Vladan Vešković, of the Serbian Spas and Resorts Association says “The most important objectives of the new law are criteria regulation for spa certification and recertification, environment protection, as well as regulation for the use of the natural medicines. The implementation of a sustainable spa law will have a positive influence on the attitude of the relevant institutions in Serbia and encourage them to define spa tourism and promote it as a strategic tourist product of Serbia.”

Many spa centers in Bulgaria, especially in the capital city of Sofia, are housed in basements, garages and similar premises, which are rather unsuitable for relaxation. However, according to the newly passed amendments to the Tourism Act, managers of spa and relaxation centers will no longer be allowed to house their businesses in such inappropriate premises. Hissarya mayor Georgi Piryankov says, ‘Many spas in Bulgaria fail to meet the latest criteria regarding their clients’ relaxation and health recovery. The amendments require that all managers and owners of spa and wellness centers provide their clients with relaxation conditions corresponding to the certificates that they have obtained. In addition, hoteliers will be obliged to inform their guests if the water that their spa centers use is mineral or it comes from the tap.”

Dental Tourism in Costa Rica

Dental Tourism in Costa Rica

The steady and significant rise in dental care costs seen over the past few years in the United States, together with other factors such as limited dental insurance coverage, lack of dental insurance or interest in dental procedures that are considered cosmetic and therefore usually not covered by insurance, are some of the reasons why each year more and more Americans are choosing to travel abroad for dental care.

Long known as a top eco-tourism destination because of its stunning beaches, lush mountains, dense rainforests, magnificent volcanoes and rich wildlife, Costa Rica has also become one of the premier medical travel destinations in the world. According to the Costa Rican Tourism Board, about 14% of all visitors travel to the country to receive medical care, especially dental work and plastic surgery.

Price considerations are a major factor behind this growing trend of dental tourism to Costa Rica, with the cost of procedures such as dental implants, crowns, bridges, veneers and root canals being significantly lower than in the United States. Even when travelers combine their treatment with recreation and take advantage of their stay to enjoy some regular tourist activities, in most cases the price for the whole dental tourism package, including airfare, will still be lower than that of the procedure alone back home.

But while affordability is certainly a key aspect, what makes Costa Rica stand out among other countries is the availability of first-class facilities and highly-qualified dentists, many of whom have received training abroad in top schools in the United States and South America and are versed in the latest techniques and materials, adhering to the highest quality standards and using state-of-the-art equipment.

Costa Rica’s proximity to the US, favorable exchange rate, the friendliness of its people and tropical climate are a few of the advantages this Central American paradise presents to its visitors. Add to these the availability of highly trained and qualified dentists, top-notch facilities outfitted with cutting-edge equipment, and one of the most stable and robust democracies in Latin America; and it’s easy to see why having dental work in Costa Rica is a smart, safe and convenient alternative for the medical traveler.

Dental Tourism: Vacation, New Smile and Savings

Dental Tourism: Vacation, New Smile, and Savings

Bargain deals are not limited to groceries, household products or fashion goods any more. Today, even dental care is on sale. But the catch is that you have to cross the international border to buy it.

Dental tourism, as this phenomenon is known, is a close cousin of medical tourism, and can be defined as the act of going to another country for low cost yet top class dental services.

Why go abroad for dental care?

If you have dental insurance benefits from your employer you are among the lucky few. For a lot of people who do not have dental insurance, going to see a dentist can be a big blow on their pockets.

People go abroad for dental care for one of two reasons: because it’s so much cheaper there for the same quality of care that you get at home and because it’s available with no-wait.

The low cost dental care seekers are usually Americans going mainly to Mexico, Costa Rica, or Panama. The no-wait seekers are Canadians and Britons with the former seeking help in Mexico or Central America and the latter traveling to East European countries like Belgium, Hungary, Poland or Turkey. For some dental procedures which tend to be expensive or complicated, Asian countries like India, Thailand and Singapore are becoming hot dental tourism destinations.

Can travel costs outweigh the potential savings?

Possibly, yes. So, you have to plan your trip smartly if you are to save money.

Suppose you are going on business to Costa Rica. While you are there, consider taking advantage of the low cost of dental care in the country and get some imminent dental work done, like professional dental cleaning or teeth whitening or the likes.

But what if you were in need of a full mouth restoration and didn’t exactly have any vacation planned in Thailand in the near future? Well, if you flew from the US to Thailand, had your full mouth restoration there, and spent some time holidaying in the country, you would still end up saving money than if you had had the treatment done in the US at your local dental clinic.

If you have a couple of small and big dental issues to take care of, then it might actually pay to go abroad and solve them in one go. For example: If you had to get dental bonding, root canal treatment, tooth contouring and dental fillings, it may be best if you addressed them all in the same visit.

How do you find a good dental care provider?

Of late many dental clinics have emerged hosting sleek websites and boasting high quality care by top-class dentists but often dental tourists complain of poor jobs at those clinics. So make sure that the dental clinic or dentist you choose doesn’t fall into that category. You do that by inquiring about the dental care provider in question. Word-of-mouth recommendations from friends and family help here. Ask about the credentials and experience of the dentist you are considering. Call up the provider and ask them about the equipments and technology they employ. Talking to them will also give you an idea of whether they are capable to handling foreign patients, for example by judging from their conversational skills and willingness to answer your questions.

You can save yourself the hard work of researching, planning, arranging and scheduling your dental care overseas by working with a dental tourism service providing company. Dental tourism firms like Healthbase are specialized firms that connect dental tourists to affordable and top quality dental care providers overseas. They also take care of several other related services like arranging pre-consultation conference calls with the foreign provider, digitizing and transferring your dental and medical records, ensuring that the provider is top-notch, scheduling your appointment at the foreign dental clinic, negotiating the best price for you, acquiring your passport and visa, booking your travel and accommodation, and much more.

Affordable Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures from Philippine Medical Tourism

Affordable Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures from Philippine Medical Tourism

When it comes to medical tourism, Asia is on top of the list of people who need quality medical care. There are plenty of countries in the world vying to be the top provider of medical tourism. India as well as the Philippines, however, are today’s front-runners in medical tourism not only in this region and also around the globe.

There are various medical services Philippine physicians can offer. The medical professionals that provide their services to tourists who want to save on cost can offer the simplest routine check-ups to the most complex surgeries. Aesthetic procedures meant to boost a person’s overall look are also available here and are also performed only by the best physicians in the region.

In certain countries, dental services are at the top of the most expensive medical services. That’s why more people leave their home countries to take a holiday, and also obtain the dental service which they require.

A benefit of Philippine medical tourism, particularly of its dental services, is that it is at least 50% to 80% more affordable compared to those provided in other countries. For instance, a simple tooth extraction may cost anywhere from to 0. Within the Philippines, tooth extractions cost only PhP 300 to PhP 1,500 (approximately to ). This cost, on the other hand, is different from dentist to dentist and their location. In addition, dentists from the Philippines can also perform the following procedures:

Cosmetic bleaching and bonding. These are two of the best services supplied by companies that facilitate medical tourism.  Asia is probably not on top of people’s itineraries when they look for quality dental care, however, Philippine dentists are known as the best in the region, particularly for cosmetic bleaching and bonding.

Teeth are prone to discoloration and people with stained teeth may feel uneasy whenever they smile. Discolored teeth can be brightened once again by cosmetic whitening and bonding. Even though teeth whitening can be performed at home with the use of a variety of teeth whitening products, this can be done much better by a dentist.

Crowns and bridges. Dental crowns are utilized to enhance the overall look of a tooth by placing a cap or a crown over it. This can be done to restore chipped or cracked pearly whites and cover up a discolored tooth or dental implant. It’s also done to keep a dental bridge in place. Philippine medical tourism can supply this dental service to any foreign client at half of what it would originally cost inside their home countries.

Prosthodontic treatment or dental prosthetics. Dentists who specialize in prosthodontic treatment diagnose, deal with, and rehabilitate oral function. They treat men and women that have cleft palates, oral cavity defects, TMJ, and sleep apnea. They also provide dental procedures, including application of veneers, teeth whitening, and dentures.

Gum treatment and contouring. Often, a fantastic set of teeth can be spoiled by gum disease.  Some individuals in addition have gummy smiles where the gum area cover a great deal of person’s teeth and a gummy smile can make a person’s teeth look shorter. Dentists from the Philippines can take care of any kind of gum disease, and also do gum contouring to tourists who want to go to Manila.

The field of Philippine medical tourism is a fast-changing landscape, yet medical professionals are keeping up with the need. Many dentists in the Philippines specialize in cosmetic dentistry and can do any of these services. When it comes to medical tourism, Asia can provide the best medical professionals and the most advanced technology.
