Australia India Travel and Tourism Council (AITTC) has named Dr Hemani Thukral as Director Medical Tourism, a new role created to assist interested parties considering India as a suitable destination for medical treatment.

Thukral has experience in both business and medicine with her career boasting a decade of medical practice experience with some of the finest institutions in India along with a decade of consulting work at IBM in Australia.
The medical tourism industry is valued at around US$40 billion and it is estimated that around seven million people fly internationally each year in search of quality, affordable medical care.
India is considered one of the leading destinations in the world for medical tourism with an annual growth rate of 30% and an expected industry valued at $2 billion by 2015.
“Direct Air India flights between Sydney and Melbourne to Delhi, availability of a range of international brand hotels and English being the medium of communication can offer added benefit to the Australian market”, assistant director India Tourism Sydney Vibhaba Tripathi said.
