TOURISM Selangor’s plans to promote the state as a medical tourism destination, as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign.

“We will be exhibiting in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Oct 24 to promote our medical tourism,” said its general manager Noorul Ashikin Mohd Noorul at the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2013 (KLPF 2013) at MidValley Exhibition Centre recently.

Organised by Photo Creator Publication (PCP), a record 100,000 visitors attended the three-day event.

Also present during the launch was Tourism Authority of Thailand director Suwat Kumwong, renowned professional photographers Lin Sheng from Taiwan and Jamason Chen from America.

Local and international exhibitors showcased their latest innovation and technology in photo and imaging equipment as well as accessories.

PCP editor-in-chief Jessica Chan also highlighted Above the Clouds: The Himalayas, which featured photos taken by the PCP Club during its recent trip to the Himalayan mountain range.

“A group travelled to Nepal, Darjeeling, Kashmir, Sikkim, Bhutan and Tibet to capture images of the people, land and unique cultures,” she said.

Visitors also experienced Photomania and Travelmania slideshows, and engaged with renowned photographers during the event.

Some also took part in Tourism Selangor’s “Dances in the Winds of Nature” photography contest.

For the first time, an entire hall was dedicated to travel, allowing companies to promote their packages and services.
